Category 1: Developmental activities (Compulsory Category)
How do you earn credits in category 1?
Attending CPD validated activities like; conferences, seminars, workshops and any validated event. This includes overseas events.
The credits in this category are calculated according to duration of the event. You will earn 1 credit for every 10 hours spent on training. So, a full day will be 10 hours or 1 CPD credit, a half a day will be 5 hours or 0.5 and one hour will be 0.1.
Note. The 1 day 10 hours situation is under review and it is proposed to issue 8 hours.
Requirements – You need a minimum of 5 credits in this category, over a 5-year cycle. (1 Credit per year).
Validation – The various VA’s, Universities or recognised organisations validate these events. (This is a formal process, with a CPD validation website. The material is validated by experts and a validation number with credits are allocated to these events. The overseas events are validated by SACNaSP so please submit your overseas events to: johan@6cds.co.za.
You are more than welcome to participate in the validation process. (As reviewer, or submitting material to be validated for your company or programmes of interest).
The event organisers must give you a certificate of attendance. There must be a validation number and number of credits earned on the certificate. Note. You upload this certificate to the portfolio website as evidence.
