BACKGROUND

The ACPM is an accredited South Africa Council for Project and Construction Management Professions SACPCMP Voluntary Association (V/007/2005), which operates as an independent body for individual and corporate members with expertise in Construction Project Management. Given the Continuing Professional Developments (CPD) activities that have to be undertaken as per policy requirements.

All ACPM activities are currently validated by the SACPCMP. The CPD activities are not only undertaken to keep professionals abreast of industry developments and best practice but are also drafted to influence the policy direction of various statutory organizations. This is achieved through the development of technical papers our research partner University of Johannesburg (UJ) and these are then submitted to the legislative bodies.

The impact of Covid19 on planned BE Capacity Building interventions and the demands to speedily capacitate the Sector led to the identification of webinars as a platform to deliver on the set targets.

The PSB in partnership with the ACPM worked out a strategy to drive capacity building interventions through the Construction Industry Conversations (CICs), currently conducted virtually.

OBJECTIVES

The webinars are targeted at impacting Officials, Candidates and Students in the Built Environment Sector in their careers, influencing positive attitudes towards service delivery and the achievement of the broader mandate of the Department.  The objectives of the webinars are as follows:

Create an information sharing platform while developing an awareness of the BE Sector latest trends and providing opportunities for participants to obtain their CPD credits. Delegates will acquire three (03) CPD credits for each three (03) hours webinar.

Instil in individual participants, a sense of accountability, interest in various developmental career options and develop motivated enthusiastic officials.

Offer organizational benefits by promoting awareness, understanding and synergies within dependencies, i.e. technical and support line functions, correctly aligned service delivery to the set legal frameworks (understood and adhered to by all role players), improved services and satisfied clients, thus, contributing to the transformation of the Public Sector and improved economy.

Afford personnel in the Public Works Sector opportunities to learn about other Built Environment practices often not practiced in the Public Sector.
